Cartridge Box

Revolutionary War soldiers carried musket ammunition in leather pouches, also called a cartridge box. The cartridge box included a strap, or sling, which suspended the containter over the soldier's shoulder and was worn on the right hip to ease removal of a paper cartridge while loading his musket.
